Personalized Tutoring That Builds Confidence – and Real Results
If your student is feeling overwhelmed, struggling with learning differences, or just not reaching their potential, you’re not alone – and it’s fixable.
I help students in the Houston area and beyond gain ability and confidence in math and science, improve grades and get ready for the future. We’re not like the other big education centers where your student works with a new tutor each week. At West Houston Tutoring, your student will work with me each time, allowing us to build trust and a relationship so that we can dig deeper into the root causes of frustration and make a real difference.

Who This Is For
I specialize in helping:
- High school students struggling in math or science
- Students preparing for SAT/ACT tests
- College students navigating challenging STEM courses (looking at you, Calculus)
- Students who feel “lost” or behind and need personalized support
If you know your student is capable, but you don’t know how to help with these frustrating subjects, we’ll work well together. Whether your student is looking to go from a B in chemistry to an A, or a gap in the fundamentals is holding them back in Algebra, diving into your student’s understanding and ensuring a strong foundation helps in current classes and those to come. Reach out today to set your child up for academic success.
What Makes West Houston Tutoring Different
This isn’t one-size-fits-all tutoring.
Every session is custom tailored to your student’s:
- Learning style or differences
- Specific gaps in knowledge
- Academic goals
Whether we’re preparing for an exam or rebuilding fundamentals, the focus is always on long-term understanding—not quick fixes.
About Me
Hi y’all, I’m Margaret Schindler, the owner and Chief Education Officer at West Houston Tutoring. I was born and raised here in Houston, Texas and I grew up in the Spring Branch and Memorial areas and still conduct most of my tutoring in those neighborhoods. I started tutoring at St. Edward’s University in Austin where I received my Bachelor’s of Science in Biochemistry with a minor in Spanish language. After graduating in seven semesters, I began work as a medical assistant for several years, then branched into the field of molecular biology, where I collected, purified and analyzed DNA from various bodily fluids. During that time, I received my MB (molecular biologist) certification from ASCP, the American Society for Clinical Pathology.
I read voraciously, and when staying active, I love hitting the burning sands in my volleyball leagues. I met my husband in the Spring Branch area of Houston in late 2016, we married in 2019, and we welcomed home our daughter, Rose Elm Schindler, a few days before Christmas of 2023. I decided to start my own business when I realized how much joy I would get from teaching her every day, and how much time I would be able to spend at home with her while pursing my greatest passions: education, experience and excellence.
